Progress is far from station-ary at Stratford Parkway

Footbridge installationThe installation of a footbridge is the latest major development on site of the new Stratford Parkway train station.

The majority of the footbridge was installed last weekend (16th & 17th March) with the remainder being completed this weekend.

The construction of Stratford Parkway is progressing ahead of schedule and on budget, and is expected to be completed at the start of May, seven months earlier than originally planned, with the first train calling at the station on Sunday 19th May.

Work is now progressing on the train station’s customer information system, CCTV and platform furniture.

John Harvey, Stratford Parkway Programme Manager for Warwickshire County Council, said: “Completing the installation of the bridge this weekend will be a major step forward in the construction of the new station.

The opening of the station will mean enhanced rail services for passengers in Stratford-upon-Avon, with weekday trains running later into the evenings and increased frequency of the existing Saturday services. From December 2013, additional weekday services are also planned, including routes to Birmingham via Solihull.
